Rome revisited and Dante' s tuscany

                      

 

 

 

This itinerary is designed for travelers who are passionate about the Italian language and want to experience "real" italian life. We will be able to see the less touristic places of the "Eternal City".

we will discover the hidden secrets as in the "Angels and demons" movie. This tour is for people who trew "3 coins in the fountain"!

After we will move to have a dive into Tuscany, to enjoy food, wine and unforgettable scenary.

The trip will comprise a small group of 10 to 15 people. We will have italian lessons focused on the day topic; we will sometimes use public transport for a short period of time in order to encourage you to practice your Italian.

Day 1 - ARRIVAL IN ROME

 

After arrival in Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Airport we will reach Rome and chek-in at our Hotel. We will have dinner in a typical roman "trattoria" and Buonanotte!

 

     

 
 

Day 2 - CASTEL S.ANGELO, GIANICOLO, TRASTEVERE.

 

After the breakfast in one of the best bar in Rome with typical "cornetto e cappuccino", we will move by metro to the Castel. We will have the opportunity to have a view of San Peter church and the area of Vatican city.

We will have one of the most interesting tour, discovering the Castel's prisons, the ancient Pope's room and the rests of the roman emperor Hadrian's mausoleum.

After the tour we will move to Gianicolo hill to have a nice picnic in the botanical garden, in front of a spectacular scenario.

After lunch we will have a nice coffe in Trastevere and a walk to visit the Tiberina's island, have a look at Ponte Fabricio, the oldest bridge in the city and the particular Church of San Bartolomeo.

After a walk into trastevere we will have our first lesson in one of the nice tea room of the city.

After lesson we will move to the hotel to have a rest and then we will have a nice dinner in another typical restaurant of the city and then you will enjoy the rest of the night as you prefer.

 

 

Day 3 - PIAZZA DEL POPOLO, VILLA BORGHESE, GALLERIA BORGHESE

 

After the breakfast we will take the metro to reach Piazzale Flaminio and then Piazza del Popolo. Here we will visit the Twin Church were we can discover the Caravaggio painting.

Then we will climb the Pincio hill and we will see the beautiful scenario from the terrace.

We will have a nice relaxing walk inside Villa Borghese and who will be interested will have the opportunity to visit the wonderful Galleria Borghese with the Bernini's masterpieces.

After a nice pick nick in the park we can reach the nice lake and rent the nice boat to feed the ducks, or admire the rebuilt in style of the Shakespeare Globe theater.

After the afternoon in the park we will have our second italian lesson in the most important wine bar in Rome where we will have a little introduction about some special roman typical wines and we will have dinner.

After the evening will be at your leisure.

 


 

Day 4 - SAN CALLISTO CATACOMBS, SHOPPING WITH PERSONAL SHOPPER.

 

Today after breakfast you will have the opportunity to discover the famous Catacombs of San Callisto an adventure into the darkness, between skulls and skeletons.

In the afternoon we will have a nice shopping tour with a personal shopper that will help you to have better deal. We will go to most fashionable streets of the town where the most important italians brands have their shops.

Then dressed better than before we will have our third lesson and then after rest we will have a dinner. The rest of the night you will have the opportunity to show the new cloches around.

 


 

Day 5 - TERME DI CARACALLA - GIARDINO ARANCI - PIRAMIDE

 

Today we will move to discover the area around the roman forum. We will visited Caracalla Bath, Circus Maximo and for lunch we will have a nice pick nick at Giardino degli Aranci.

After lunch we will taste the scent of the roses in the botanic garden and then we will move to discover the roman piramid and then after the fourth italian lesson we will enjoy the flavour of the nice Testaccio area.

 


 

Day 6 - TIVOLI - SICILIAN FLAVOURS

 

Today we will move to discover the famous Villa d 'Este. This is a castle-garden was laid out by cardinal Ercole D 'Este (the son of Lucrezia Borgia) with the idea of recreating an ancient Roman nymphaea and pleasure palace. Terraces and fountains abound in the manicured garden and the Villa itself has a fantastic collection of frescoes and some modern art.

Then we will come back Rome and we will enjoy a sicilian dinner with arancini e cannoli and one of the best ice-cream in town.

 


 

 

Day 7 - APPIA ANTICA - CASTELLI ROMANI

 

Today we will move to the south of Rome to discover the old Appian way. After a nice walk on a 2000 yeard old street we will reach Castel Gandolfo lake and the area called Roman Castles and the little town of Marino, Velletri, Albano, Nepi. Here we will have the opportunity to live one of the most really roman experience, tasting the good wines of the area and dining in the very typical restaurant called "fraschette" eating "porchetta e vino dei castelli"!

Singin some roman folk song learned during the dinner we will come back home full of joy, wine and roman's flavour.

 

 

 

 

Day 8 - ANGUILLARA, CASTELLO DI BRACCIANO, COOKING CLASS

 

Today we will move to Nord of Rome to discover another lake and another nice little town called Anguillara. Then we will visit the famous Bracciano's castle became famous after the Tom Cruise's wedding.

In the afternoon we will move in a private house where we will have an italian cooking class (focused on roman's recipies) and everyone will became italian chef for a day and will provide to cook it's dinner.

 

 

 

Day 9 - FIRENZE, PIAZZA DEL DUOMO, PONTE VECCHIO

 

Today quite early in the morning we will leave from Termini station to reach Florence in a couple of hours. We will have check-in at the hotel and after a little rest we will move to have a walk into the center of town, for a particular itinerary to discover the Dante's Florence. Divided in two team we will start a nice "tresure hunt" around the city looking for devils and simbols of Comedy.

During the rest of the afternoon we will move to delight with the view of Ponte Vecchio and the Arno river.

After a nice happy hour in one of the typical venue of the city we will reach the hotel to have a rest and the dinner, speaking in italian about the game and the place and the place discovered.

 

 

 


 

Day 10 - UFFIZI, MERCATO DI SAN LORENZO

 

Today we will visited the Uffizi museum, one of the most important world museum. All the most famous artists like, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Botticelli, Raffaello, Donatello, ecc. have their best masterworks exposed in this place.

After lunch and coffe we ll move to the San Lorenzo maket. The city's artisan traditions thrive at this market, the largest and the cheapest one. In front of the leather shops, stand stock all kinds of goods - bags, cloches, food, vines, toys and a lot of high quality products.

After we will reach the hotel where we will have our Italian lesson and dinner.

 

 

 

Day 11 - SAN GIMIGNANO, WINE TASTE, AGRITURISMO.

 

Today will move to an agriturismo located into the tuscany's hills, with a great view on the famous San Gimignano.

After the visit of the little medieval town, where you will be free to move as your delight, we will meet everyone to enjoy the pluri-rewarded ice-cream in the principal square.

In the evening we will move to a wine farm to have a tour into the "cantina" to discover the production of famous Chianti wine, the barrel's process, and the extra virgin olive oil.

We enjoy a unforgettable dinner tasting wines and typical products.

 

 

 

Day 12 - PISA, PIAZZA DEI MIRACOLI.

 

Today after breakfast we will move to the famous Pisa. We will visit the Campo de Miracoli (Field of Miracles), an appropriate nickname for that place, that houses Leaning Tower, Duomo, Baptistry and Camposanto.

We will spend all the day visiting the sights and the area around.

We will came back in the agriturismo where we can rest and then we will have our second cooking class focused on tuscany recipes.

 

 

 

 

Day 13 - SIENA, PIAZZA DEL CAMPO.

 

Today after breakfast in agriturismo we will move to Siena.

This wonderful town radiates from the Piazza del Campo, the schell-shaped brick square designed for civic events. Infact twice each summer the Palio race morphs the mellow campo into a caotic arena as horses raes around its edge. Standing at the bottom of the square is the imposing Palazzo Pubblico with its looming bell tower, the Torre del Mangia. The most fit of us will be able to climb up the 102mt tower tall with around 400 steps.

How many exactly will discover together! After a couple of free hours to spend visiting the town we will meet to have a dinner together eating the famous "Fiorentina" steak!

 

               

 

  

Day 14 - DUOMO E MUSEO DI CONTRADA, MONTERIGGIONI.

 

Today will move for our second day in Siena to visit the Duomo. This is one of few full Gothic cathedrals south of the alps and we will appreciate its spectacular architecture.  After the visit at Museo dell'Opera del Duomo we will have another game together around the "contrade", the discricts of Siena that are the horse ridind team of the summer Palio. In the evening will move to visit Monteriggioni, one of the most preserved medieval little town. For dinner we will have our last typical tuscany dinner in another nice hostaria.


Day 15 - ROME TERMINI AND DEPARTURE

 

After breakfast we will check-out and head Rome Termini station.

Then we will reach the Leonardo Da Vinci Airport to catch our flight back to Melbourne.
